That's the value of being loyal to one platform. Purchase into LXT, and all new tools will fit the batteries that you already have.

The 18V LXT Brushless Driver Drill (DDF485Z) and the 18V LXT Brushless 1/4" Impact Driver (DTD173Z) are the power tools to use for the majority of fastening applications you face on a residential or commercial project. The 18V LXT Brushless Rotary Hammer (DHR280Z) is the power tool for drilling and light chipping on masonry or demolition jobs. The 18V LXT Brushless 6-1/2" Circular Saw (DHS680Z), which features two batteries for cabinetry or flooring plunge cuts, provides circular saw work.

A bare tool is one that does not come with a battery or charger, but is a tool body only; this makes sense because if you already have compatible batteries, you do not need to purchase a charger. A full kit comes with one or two batteries and a charger - this is a preferred choice for newcomers. Most buyers don't pay enough attention to battery size. The BL1850B is a 5.0Ah battery that lasts longer between charges than a 2.0Ah battery and will power high-draw tools such as rotary hammers and grinders. Keep battery downtime to a minimum between jobs with a rapid charger like the 18V LXT Rapid Charger.

Authentic Makita accessories and parts are more important than you think. Using non-manufacturer blades, bits, and carbon brushes can damage the tool (or at least shorten its useful life) and may void the warranty. How to Choose the Right Makita Tool
