RLS

Tool Academy stocks the full Raimondi leveling system lineup, from clips and wedges to caps and pliers, sourced directly for contractors who need parts that actually fit their spec. RLS tile leveling system clips are available in base thicknesses from 1/16" up to 1/8", so you can match the joint width to your exact spec before you start setting.

Raimondi Tile Leveling System

The RLS tile leveling system works by clamping the tiles together at a set height while the thinset cures underneath. Under the joint is a plastic clip; a reusable cap threads down over the clip, and the two pull adjacent pieces of tile into the same plane. After the mortar hardens, you simply break the exposed strap off with a floor puller or by hand, and the base remains underneath the grout line. No lippage, no rocking tiles.

What RLS Tools Are Used For

Raimondi leveling clips are designed for anyone installing large-format porcelain, natural stone, or ceramic on floors or walls. When it comes to fighters of curling planks and warped porcelain, tile guys know why this matters: even a dead-flat substrate won't produce a dead-flat tile. The clips do just that, holding each piece to the next one rather than relying on the tile itself.

There are a number of thicknesses for clip bases, ranging from 1/16" (1.6mm) to up to 1/8" (3mm) to match any grout joint width your spec requires. Cap threads like the Vite RLS 1mm, 1.5mm and 3mm caps thread to the base and are tightened with a dedicated tool like the Raimondi RLS Vite Screw Tool. Polished stone and glazed finishes may require an anti-scratch cap where a standard cap would scratch the surface.

How to Choose and Use RLS Clips, Wedges, and Pliers

Choose your tile thickness and grout joint size, then select a compatible base. The RLS Starter Levelling Kit is the quickest and easiest way to get set up on your first job, with clips, wedges and a tool in one box.

The wedges fit in the clip legs and perform the actual leveling action. They cannot be removed without disturbing the tension you've just set, and they are one-use only. Protection plates prevent pliers from marring completed edges of tile and the floor pliers work quickly on larger jobs. Wall and floor applications use the same clip systems, just matched to the tile weight and thickness on hand.
